MCC's Medical Assistant Program

In the Medical Assistant 40-week hybrid online/on-campus program, you’ll learn a variety of in-demand skills and knowledge, including:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Phlebotomy and EKG
  • Electronic Health Records and Medical Insurance Billing and Coding
  • Infection control, sterilization and pharmacology
  • Aiding in diagnostics and minor surgical procedures
  • Patient care and communication
  • Scheduling, bookkeeping and other administrative tasks

Upon program completion, you’ll be eligible to sit for the following exams:

  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT)
  • Certified EKG Technician (NCET)

If you’re currently a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or considering an alternative to a CNA hybrid-online program, Midwestern Career College’s medical assistant program can be the right career option for you.

Medical Assistants play a vital role in the health care field today. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (B.L.S.), medical assistant employment is expected to grow by 19% from 2019–2029. 1 A career as a medical assistant provides incredible variety and a chance to make a real difference in the lives of others. Answering patient questions about administering medication, collecting lab specimens, inputting basic medical billing and software information, understanding medical insurance coding are some of the important tasks required of medical assistants in doctors’ offices, hospitals, and clinics. MCC’s Certificate program in Medical Assisting can equip you with the skills you need to make your desire and dreams a reality.
